A four-part unrelated anthology. Makes a nice change. Overall, a better than average collection of horror shorts.
Hungry Joe
A new, sloppy look at Antenatal depression perhaps? Joe eats. I mean alot. You shouldn't be too surprised when breast-feeding your newborn, you end up with sore boobs and even the odd cracked nipple. When this avaricious appetite continues beyond infancy, the mother struggles to get anyone to listen and the problem persists throughout Joe's life into early adulthood, curiously not becoming obese. This makes for a disproportionate amount of lip-smacking and etiquette free consumption. It's deliberately messy, unsavoury and if it doesn't make you a least a little grossed out by it, then maybe have a look at your diet.
Myosotis
A short and mostly silent French production advising of us what not to do, as a Beekeeper, when accidentally murdering your wife who you are already not fond of due to her controlling nature. 1. Don't bury her under your vegetable garden. It never goes well. It may seem like a good idea, but just say no. Some great cinematography on show and a dollop of dark humour.
Red Water
Curious one - when Jane is alone at her parents house when the water supply shuts down. So she calls a plumber to get it sorted, at night in the dark, of course. This tries to throw in characterisation which was needless really in the grand scheme of events and the audience will be as confused as Jane when a second plumber arrives even though she only the one. The second seems legit, so who is lurking in the upstairs bathroom? So begins a formulaic game of cat and mouse.
The Good Word
Sometimes it's better to not know what goes on beyond your neighbours front door. A man arrives at Ma and Da's preaching the good word. He sits for a while talking with Ma until Da arrives from the 'big shed' after a hard days' butcherin' and then the mood changes. Some great acting performances on show for such a simple story, but you can almost taste the twisty menace.
